On the wall behind Leland Chee's desk is a portrait of an Ithorian, an alien with a hammer-shaped head that you glimpse briefly in the famous Star Wars cantina scene. In its leathery, foot-long fingers, the Ithorian holds a cube decorated with elaborate metallic tracings, a device known as a holocron. Think of it as a Force-powered hard drive, capable of storing an enormous quantity of information. "It's a piece of Jedi technology," Chee says. "It tells you ... everything." read more »
Eva Mendes is in a new Calvin Klein compaign featuring the sultry actress flashing a nipple. That ad has now been banned from TV in America, resulting in a heap of free press for CK and its new fragrance. See the video link after the bump! Gorgeous actress, Eva Mendes, is in the new Calvin Klein lingerie ads. And the new video for the perfume is causing quite a buzz! Could Calvin Klein have done this on purpose knowing being “banned” would cause quite a stir in the press? A Calvin Klein exec says it’s “not entirely” a surprise that the ad showing Hitch starlet Eva Mendes writhing around naked on a bed (covered only by a strategically rumpled sheet) has been rejected by US networks. The creative director behind it is maintaining a sense of righteous outrage, but this is clearly a well-executed textbook case of manufacturing controversy for publicity. Creative director Fabien Baron was flabbergasted that Mendes’ nipple flash was deemed unacceptable for Middle American sensibilities: You must be kidding me. This country really needs a new president this country is so messed up, said Baron. Its such a joke and its quite upsetting, frankly, how hypocritical this country has become. Its OK for children to see people killed by guns? Spreading a little love right now would be a good idea. She is being a little sexy, but they are not provocative, added Baron. They are really well done. The spot is really beautiful I really cant believe this is happening.I dont know what else to say. So the company will run an edited version, the racier cut will be an online smash, the new perfume gets a ton of free media, and Eva Mendes can raise her asking price for her next film ever so slightly. It’s all quite repetitive, isn’t it? That won’t stop anyone from watching this ad though. Eva admitted she was thrilled that the ad was considered too saucy for US broadcast. Eva, 33, said: I love it. That means the ads are totally Calvin, totally provocative and a little controversial. She continued: In the commercial youll see me rolling around in bed a lot, thats basically all I do. I have been a fan of Calvin Kleins Obsession ads since I can remember. She added: I love to feel super-feminine. I love dresses and skirts and dislike jeans. I think what makes a woman sexy is confidence. Creative Director of the advert Fabien Baron said: This country really needs a new president this country is so messed up. Its such a joke and its quite upsetting, frankly, how hypocritical this country has become. Its OK for children to see people killed by guns? read more »
(ED NOTE: Soundtrack is a new recurring feature in which we tell you more about the music heard in each episode of Best Week Ever. This week, we're talkin' about Partie Traumatic , the debut album from the adorable indie rock band Black Kids .) Black Kids originate from Jacksonville, Florida, and no, they're not all black kids. Well, on the outside at least. I cannot vouch for what's in their hearts. Anyway, the band formed in 2006 and they have been following the fast track to success since. After making a big splash at CMJ Marathon 2007, they were profiled in The New York Times, Rolling Stone called them an "Artist To Watch" in November 2007, and their debut album, Partie Traumatic , was released in July 2008. Now, I'm writing about them, which basically means they've MADE IT!!! read more »

The writers strike is over ... for at least three years.
ET confirms that WGA members wrote a definitive ending to the 14-week writers strike, ratifying the new three-year contract by a considerable majority. When the final vote of 4,060 Guild members in NY and L.A. was tallied, 93.6 percent of the ballot-casters said "yea" to the deal, effective through May 1, 2011.
"This contract is a new beginning for writers in the Digital Age," said PATRIC M. VERRONE, president of the WGA West. "It ensures that Guild members will be fairly compensated for the content they create for the Internet, and it also covers the reuse on new media platforms of the work they have done in film since 1971 and in TV since 1977." read more »
